Photo collage

The word “collage” itself comes from the French “collage”, which means “sticking” and implies some artistic result (a work of art or graphics) created using this same sticking – objects, materials and ready-made pictures that differ in color, texture, etc.

Thus, a photo collage is the creation of a new photo-image or image by “merging” several pictures, sometimes not having a direct relationship with each other of photographs.

The effect that a photographer needs is created by superimposing a photograph on another one or combining many (more than 2) photographs into a single whole, sometimes with the chaotic use of different photographic images (like a puzzle or a mosaic).

Today, the photographer has many ways to implement their ideas and create all sorts of photo collages using various effects. This interesting genre of photo art is already more and more accessible and popular among people who do not have much knowledge in the field of graphic (computer) photo processing and professional photographic equipment.

The main thing here is the person’s imagination and his desire to create something extraordinary, interesting, the absence of fear of experiments.

Varieties and types of photo collage
Photo collage exists in many forms, but the most popular are:
philosophical,
satirical,
metamorphic,
political,
propaganda.

The plot and themes for the photo collage are limited only by the fantasy of the photographer himself, so photo collages are often divided into:
youth,
children,
family,
collectible,
wedding
tourist
other.
Today, when working on a collage, the most modern technical devices are used. They allow realizing real masterpieces not only of photo art, but also of fine art in general. Images turn out to be unusual and copyrighted, and the use of artistic methods makes it possible to realize work that is indistinguishable from a picture painted by hand.

Also, a photo collage on canvas is widespread – it is a separate type of this genre, which combines both a photo and an artistic image. The skill and skills of the photographer-artist allows you to create truly original collages that combine a beautiful composition, plot, author’s style and expressing the author’s view of the world.

Use of photographic collage and its features
A high-quality photo collage can be presented to relatives or friends, it will be a unique gift for any person and decorate the interior of an apartment or office.

Of course, it is not so easy – to combine different pictures into one image on any background. It requires special skills and knowledge, as well as sufficient experience in this area. A really high-quality picture can be created only by a professional and a connoisseur of collage techniques.

An interesting fact is that the photo collage surrounds us almost everywhere (in advertising, books, etc.). Without him, the work of many photographers and designers would be unthinkable. And computer technology has opened up unprecedented opportunities.

A photo collage resembles a small “miracle”: a photographer can easily “turn” any person into an astronaut, a prince, a fairy-tale character, or a hero of a popular movie. Only for this, he does not use a magic wand, but special computer programs and relies on his own artistic taste in everything.

Photo collage as an independent genre of photo art is an expression of a person’s creative mood, his plans, tastes, ideas and preferences. It is not surprising that this genre is becoming increasingly popular, thanks to it you can unleash all your creative potential and create an unforgettable original image in a photo.
